1. Briza maxima L. (Medit.) – A very rare and ephemeral alien but possibly slightly increasing lately. First collected, without further details, in 1853 in Walem. In the 19th century associated with grain importation (for instance repeatedly seen near a mill in Hoevenen) and also recorded on the gravelly borders of river Vesdre near Verviers (possibly as a wool alien). More recent records are escapes from cultivation, for instance in Boom, Dendermonde, Gent, Mol (see for instance: http://waarnemingen.be/waarneming/view/56873331), etc. Briza maxima is nowadays usually found in urban areas as a pavement weed (foot of walls), along fences, etc…
