Briza minor

2. Briza minor L. (Medit.) – Formerly a well-established weed of sandy arable land, especially in the province of Antwerpen (Olen, Tongerloo, Wilrijk,…). Briza minor was recorded at least from ca. 1815 until the end of the 19th century. In the 20th century much decreasing in such habitats and long gone by now. Occasionally recorded as a wool alien in the Vesdre valley between 1909 and 1920. In the past decades an exceptional alien of obscure origin (possibly in part a garden escape). Recorded most recently on wasteland in Oostende in 1949 and as a garden weed in Tervuren in 1980.
