Cercidiphyllum Sieb. & Zucc.
Cercidiphyllum is a genus with two species that are native to China and Japan (Dezhi & Endress 2001). One of these, Cercidiphyllum magnificum (Nakai) Nakai is sometimes merged with or considered an infraspecific taxon of the other species, C. japonicum Sieb. & Zucc., especially in horticulture (e.g. Knees 1989, Roloff & Bärtels 2006). The genus is frequently cultivated for ornament.
