Imperatoria

Imperatoria L.

Imperatoria is a small genus of three species, native to Europe and North Africa. It is one of the many segregates of the genus Peucedanum L. (Spalik & al. 2004, Reduron 2007-2008) and its segregation from the latter is not uncontested (see e.g. Fröberg 2010). The single species here concerned, Imperatoria ostruthium, is located in the same clade as Peucedanum s.str. It is a reputed medicinal plant and was formerly much cultivated, also in Belgium.
