Laurus

Laurus L.

Laurus is a genus of two species, one native in the Mediterranean area, the other in Macaronesia. Laurus nobilis (laurel) is widely cultivated as an ornamental and its leaves are used to flavour food. In Belgium it is only hardy in climatologically mild areas, for instance in coastal dunes.
