Lonicera caprifolium L. (SE-Eur. SW-As.) – A rare but locally naturalised escape from cultivation. Known from several, widely scattered locations but perhaps less rare in Wallonia. Apparently already established on old walls in Leuven in the 2nd half of the 19th century (at least between 1857 and 1889). Furthermore recorded as an established alien from Han-sur-Lesse, Wépion, … It was recently recorded from a nature reserve in Resteigne (Bois d’Ellinchamps) (Duvigneaud & Saintenoy-Simon 2002). Lonicera caprifolium is usually found in hedgerows, wood margins or on old walls.
Lonicera caprifolium has been confused in Belgium with L. x italica (see there).
