Orobanche amethystea

Orobanche amethystea Thuill. (Eur., N Afr.) – An exceptional and ephemeral alien. Recorded only twice in Belgium. First seen in 1984 in a vegetable garden in Borgloon where three individuals were found growing as a parasite on Levisticum officinale (Lejeune 1985). In 1993 O. amethystea was also seen in a garden in Braine-le-Comte, on Eryngium giganteum.
