Salpiglossis Ruíz et Pav.
Salpiglossis, as currently understood, is a small genus of only two species, native to the Andes in Chile and Argentina. Many more have been described (chiefly on the basis of colour of corolla) but most are now included in the variability of the remaining species. One species, Salpiglossis sinuata, is frequently cultivated as an ornamental. Plants in cultivation might as well represent complex hybrids of uncertain parentage. They are sometimes referred to as Salpiglossis variabilis Hort.
