Trachycarpus H. Wendl.
Trachycarpus is a genus with eight species in southeastern Asia (Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, N Thailand and Vietnam). One species, T. fortunei, is widely cultivated as an ornamental tree, especially in cooler climates. It is one of the most hardy palm species worldwide and suited for cultivation in western Europe. It has been recorded as an escape in Belgium.
