Arachis hypogaea

1. Arachis hypogaea L. (S-Am.) – An exceptional and ephemeral alien on dumps, possibly as a birdseed casual. Recorded in 1950 on a dump near Mechelen (Zavelberg). Possibly under-recorded.

Arachis hypogaea is still much introduced in Belgium but its fruits are roasted for human consumption and therefore unlikely to germ when spilled.

In the British Isles also found as a tan bark alien (Clement & Foster 1994).
