8. Berberis wilsoniae Hemsley (W-China) – An exceptional escape from cultivation. Few plants were seen in 2012 on a brick quay wall of river Dender in Ninove, close to a plantation.
Berberis wilsoniae superficially looks like B. thunbergii. Both are deciduous and have small, entire leaves, a few-flowered inflorescence and reddish berries. However, Berberis wilsoniae has most of its spines tripartite and its young twigs are finely pubescent.
