Acer rubrum

Acer rubrum L. (N Am.) – A very rare escape from cultivation. This species was formerly introduced in a now abandoned arboretum in Koekelare where it is extensively self-seeding (first observed in 2008).
Similar behavior has been reported for instance from Brookwood cemetery in Surrey in the British Isles (Clement & Foster 1994). This species is quite expansive and even in its native range in North America it is often considered an invasive species (Abrams 1998).
