Bergenia cordifolia

Bergenia cordifolia (Haw.) Sternb. (Siberia) – A rare escape from or, more likely, relic of cultivation or a throw-out. Possibly locally more or less persisting or naturalizing. In recent years it has been reliably recorded, for instance, from Overpelt and Oudenaarde.
This species combines glabrous leaf margins, deeply cordate leaf bases and inflorescence axes without stalked glands.
Bergenia cordifolia is less frequently reported as an escape than B. crassifolia. It has been known, for instance, from the British Isles (Stace 2010).
