2. Cytisus striatus (Hill) Rothm. (syn.: Sarothamnus striatus (Hill) Samp.) (W-Medit.) – A very rare escape from or relic of cultivation. First discovered on schistous slopes along a motorway in Somme-Leuze in 1992. Also known since the 1990’s from rocky slopes in Chaudfontaine-Tilff (Embourg and Sainval), along with Cytisus multiflorus and Spartium junceum. In 2012 also recorded, possibly for the first time in Flanders, on a small talus slope near motorway E403 in Lichtervelde and since 2015 known from 'Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen' in Maasmechelen. Possibly overlooked elsewhere
Cytisus striatus was initially introduced (sown) on purpose in all its Belgian locations (for erosion control). Like Cytisus multiflorus it is well-established now (in more or less natural habitats) but not (yet) considered to be invasive.
