Vicia serratifolia Jacq. (syn.: V. narbonensis subsp. serratifolia (Jacq.) Nyman) (S-Eur., Medit.) – A rare and ephemeral alien. Probably first recorded as a weed of arable land in Sint-Genesius-Rode in 1876 and 1877, along with Vicia melanops and V. pannonica. Repeatedly seen in Quaregnon (terril Lheureux), for instance in 1892 and 1902 (in the latter case with Vicia melanops). In 1888 seen in Tinlot with Vicia pannonica and the related V. narbonensis. In the 20th century also regularly seen in scattered localities and nowadays probably less rare than Vicia narbonensis. In the past decades collected on a dump in Mechelen (1966), near a railway station in Virginal-Samme (1968) and twice on demolition sites of old grain mills, for instance in Brugge in 2002 (Verloove 2006b) and in Izegem in 2007. In 2015 also seen in Diest.
Vicia serratifolia is part of the V. narbonensis complex. These micro-species are now usually accepted at specific level (Euro+Med Plantbase, following Schäfer 1973) (see also under Vicia narbonensis).
