Carex grayi
Carex grayi J. Carey (syn.: C. intumescens var. globularis A. Gray) (N-Am.) – A very rare escape from or relic of cultivation (or throw-out). Recorded in 2011 in a shady and moist roadside in woodland in Aalter (Beukenpark), adjacent to a garden. Also known since 2013 from an abandoned arboretum in Lommel (den Tip).
This species is increasingly grown for ornament and regularly reported as an escape in Europe. However, at least for now, it rarely seems to naturalize (e.g. Schubert 2014, Tintner 2016).
